What You Learn in the Beginner Driving Course
Days 1 to 3 Vehicle Familiarisation and Basic Controls
The first three days are dedicated to acclimatizing in the car. Students are taught to adjust their seats and mirrors, use the steering wheel grip and technique, adjust the accelerator and brake sensitivity, use the clutch and shift gears (for a manual car), and understand the difference between manual and automatic car controls. Lessons are held on quiet roads in and around the student's locality in Lahore. No traffic pressure. Complete and detailed instructions for all movements.
Days 4 to 6 Road Awareness and Traffic Rules
Days 4 - 6 will cover Pakistan traffic rules, recognition of road signs, lane discipline, speed awareness, junction approaches and safe following distance. Students start on residential roads with light traffic. The instructor is able to explain each road situation as it is encountered, developing the student's skill in not only reading the road ahead, but in reading the road as it is seen.
Days 7 to 10 Real Traffic, Parking and Licence Test Preparation
The last four days take the students onto the main roads in their area – junctions, roundabouts, traffic signals and busier roads. Student learn and practise parallel, reverse and three point parking. The last two sessions are conducted as a real test drive of the routes that the Lahore licensing authority conducts, so that students are ready for the real test drive on the day of their government test.
